## Ownership & Legacy

Fateh Collection is conceptualised, owned and operated by the Kelwa Rathore family, whose ties to Mewar trace back to the early 16th century. The family belongs to the Jaitmalot branch of the Rathore clan, a Suryavanshi Rajput lineage originating with the Gahadavala rulers of Kannauj.

Key history: Rao Siha established Rathore power in Marwar around 1226 CE. In the early 16th century Thakur Bida, a sixth-generation descendant of Rao Jaitmal, sacrificed his life defending the wounded prince Sangram Singh (later Maharana Sanga, r. 1509-1528) — commemorated on the family crest with the inscription "Sango bhoge chitrakoot sar bida satte". The Maharanas of Mewar subsequently granted the Jagir of Kelwa to Rao Vejal. Family members died at the Battle of Haldighati (18 June 1576) serving Maharana Pratap, and the hills of Kelwa sheltered the infant Ajit Singh of Marwar during the Rathore Rebellion (1679-1707).

The collection is led by three brothers: Jitendra Singh Rathore (founder; vintage automobiles), Anant Rathore (Marwari horse revival at the Fateh Stud Farm, Kelwa), and Raghvender Rathore (national-level trap shooter; shooting facility).

## Sustainability

Sustainability is structured around four elements — Agni (Energy), Prithvi (Earth), Jal (Water) and Vayu (Air).

- Solar: 5,410 tonnes of CO2 saved to date; 670 tonnes eliminated annually; equivalent to 33,500 mature trees or 340 tonnes of coal avoided each year (as of 1 August 2026).
- Waste: 7-8 tonnes of food waste segregated monthly; approximately 100 tonnes diverted from landfill annually; 15-20 tractor loads of organic manure produced each year; zero chemical fertilisers used on the farmland. Vegetarian waste feeds the dairy cattle; non-vegetarian waste is pulverised into bone meal.
- Water: three separate wastewater streams. Grey water treated in ~24 hours for irrigation. Black water treated through a gravity-based system of 12 pits over 7 days using Reed Bed Technology (reed and banana plants).
- Construction: heritage structures dismantled and reassembled stone by stone, reclaimed haveli doors and timber, lime plaster instead of chemical paint, all materials locally sourced.

## Vintage Vehicle Collection

A private museum at Fateh Vilas, Udaipur, housing the Kelwa family's collection of 50 vehicles across eight categories: 24 classic motorcars, 7 jeeps/SUVs/military vehicles, 7 motorcycles, 2 scooters, 1 paratrooper cycle, 6 heritage animal-drawn vehicles, 1 tractor and 2 modern classics. Marques include Cadillac, Chevrolet, Daimler, Dodge, Fiat, Ford, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz, MG, Morris, Standard and Studebaker. Entry Rs. 250 + 18% taxes per person; complimentary for guests booking directly at Fateh Vilas. Several vehicles are maintained in running order and used for vintage car rides, hi-tea and sundowner drives, and wedding processions.
